Bearer shares are issued to those who have properties in their name. The property must be in the name of the bearer in order to have bearer shares. When bought from a source there are records kept but after many transfers in the way of bearer shares, there can be no record of the original owner of the property except for in whose name it has been issued. Shares can be bought from authorized agents and at the same time from direct sources. All the shares needs to be registered and at the same time there must be proper regulations and rules followed for the sale and transfer of the shares.

Bearer shares are different from other types of shares as there is no need of keeping records in order to make transfers and sell them. Bearer shares can be owned by anyone or individuals who have signed on the dotted lines of the bearer bond. Therefore it can be said that the owner of the bearer papers are the owner of the properties or the bearer shares. Since bearer shares have no records of the original owners, there can be huge loss incurred in case of theft.
Bearer shares are used by many individuals from the corporate and investing companies in order to avoid the the payment of transfer taxes. There are huge amounts that are to be paid as taxes if properties are transferred in the name of other individuals. There are taxes that are to be paid when the bearer shares are issued or made. The only difference is that the transfer taxes are not required when bearer shares are made. In some countries, there are regulations that have been imposed on the amount of properties that can be transferred by the help of bearer shares. After a certain limit, there are additional taxes to be paid by the owner for tax evasion. For those crossing the limit, and avoiding the payment of the taxes have to pay a penalty. There are records and identification systems like the Internal Revenue Service in the United States of America that can identify what amount of property transfer has taken place.
There are cash transactions possible in place of bearer shares. These are possible by making other bearer shares by making bearer documents. Bearer shares can also be used as gift shares where there is easy transfer of the shares among family members without much hassles. Bearer shares can be made by any adults and the transfer of the shares are very easy as records are not maintained. The transfer of the shares can be recorded but in most of the cases there are many such transactions that take place where there is no record. Only if there is registration done by the bearer that there is the possibility of the tracking of the ownership of the properties. There are disadvantages of bearer shares but the quick and convenient way in which properties can be owned, it is preferred by many. Those who have the bearer shares are the rightful owner of the properties according to the law.
